Child support in Michigan is one of the best functioning child support programs in the nation. But to further improve the program, Michigan employers have joined the attempts at getting children the money that they need for life necessities. Michigan employers are assisting the government more frequently and strongly than ever before, allowing for the child support system to be more productive than ever before.
These employers are using income-withholding practices to ensure that child supportes is given out on time and in the correct amounts. Michigan employers have taken a very important stance by participating in this action. They are providing one more loophole that child support-paying parents must jump through in order to avoid providing their children with financial assistance.
The process used by the Michigan employers allows for a more direct obtainment of child support money. Before even issuing a payroll check, if requested by the Friend of the Court, the employer takes out the child support money and sends it to the State Disbursement Unit. This Unit controls all of the child support money and distributes it to the families.
